(Los Angeles / Tuesday – March 14, 2023) Nitro Rallycross, a disruptive next generation motorsport created by moto icon Travis Pastrana and action sports authority Nitro Circus, has announced more details for its 2022/23 season finale this weekend. With championship hardware on the line, LA’s iconic Glen Helen Raceway will host a triple shot finals weekend Friday, March 17 through Sunday, March 19.

First Look at Updated Track:

An animated video clip of Nitro RX’s purpose-built track was released, giving fans their first look at the updated course layout for the high stakes season finale.

Glen Helen Raceway is synonymous with the wide-open action of motocross and off-road racing. Thanks to its steep sand berms and dirt surface, it has produced some of Nitro RX’s most thrilling racing to date. Now, for the 2022/23 championship weekend, the Nitro RX production team has upped the ante yet again, adding a wider banked turn and a bigger Joker lap that will run underneath a jaw-dropping 100-ft gap jump.

The revolutionary all-electric FC1-X, Nitro RX’s monstrous new vehicle racing in the Group E top class, is well-equipped to tackle these challenging features. Capable of producing the electric equivalent of 1,070 peak horsepower (800 kW), it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 1.4 seconds and launch faster off the line than an F1 car (pushing the driver back in his seat with the force of two g’s).

Event Schedule:

A full event schedule has also been announced. With the season finale jam-packed with three finals across three days, the schedule will include evening racing under the lights on both Friday, March 17th and Saturday, March 18th. This will elevate the degree of difficulty for drivers, as well as create even more dramatic visuals for fans. A current rundown is listed below (subject to change):

Championship Stakes:

Coming out of Nitro RX’s Canadian leg, Robin Larsson (SWE) maintains his Group E lead, thanks to his cool consistency under pressure (he has earned two victories and six podiums so far). But, with five winners across seven rounds, the series championship is still very much up grabs. Andreas Bakkerud (NOR) along with rising star Fraser McConnell (JAM) are hot on Larsson’s heels in second and third place respectively, while just behind them Oliver Eriksson (SWE) gained ground following his Quebec victory. Pastrana is still aiming to defend his 2021 Nitro RX title. But, coming out of Canada, he remains in fifth and will need to turn it up significantly if he wants to remain in the hunt.

In addition to Group E, the world’s best up-and-coming talent will also compete in NRX NEXT, Nitro RX’s developmental class. These drivers strap into internal combustion vehicles similar to those in the venerable Lites class. At Glen Helen this weekend, they will battle for the series’ first NEXT world championship, headlined by European NEXT winner Tommi Hallman (FIN) and North American NEXT champion Casper Jansson (SWE) who are crossing the Atlantic to face off for the global title.

Rough-and-ready Side-By-Sides will also return, featuring a number of big names in UTV racing. More Side-By-Side driver details will be announced soon.

Immersive Fan Experience, Off-Track Fun:

For the season finale, Nitro RX is amping up the high-adrenaline excitement with the addition of Class 11-style VW Baja buggies and pit bike racing, as well as freestyle motocross shows from star Nitro Circus daredevil riders – including nine-time X Games gold medalist Jarryd McNeil, eight-time X Games medalist Adam Jones, six-time X Games medalist Blake “Bilko” Williams, and more - plus Van Prix’s unlimited mayhem.

With its unique open paddock layout, Nitro Rallycross will offer fans an immersive atmosphere where they can get a behind-the-scenes look at the teams, drivers, and cars. Attendees can also enjoy the Nitro RX fan experience, which includes an entertainment stage featuring live music, as well as a gaming zone, a concession area with local food trucks and an electric RC activation.

The event will also feature an autograph session, open to all attendees, that allows fans to meet the world’s leading drivers in person.

Fans can also stay at Glen Helen overnight – RV camping parking passes are available for purchase.

Fans looking for an elevated race experience can enjoy special amenities with Club Nitro RX VIP. Highlighted by a private trackside viewing location and exclusive Club Nitro RX area, this new premium package gets fans closer to Nitro RX than ever before.
