Barry McKenna will make his American Rally Association return on next month’s 100 Acre Wood Rally, driving a modified version of his Ford Fiesta WRC.
McKenna, the 2020 ARA National champion, debuted the Fiesta WRC on the 2021 edition of 100AW Rally and likely would have won were it not for a puncture. He hasn’t been a regular on the rally stages of late though, starting just two events last year due to increasing work commitments.
But McKenna and co-driver Leon Jordan are back for what remains a one-off event for now. Jordan told DirtFish: “We’ll see how 100 Acre goes and take it from there. Hopefully it all goes to plan.”
The Irishmen will compete in the Open 4WD class, which has been revised for 2023 to pair the performance back more in-line with the FIA’s global Rally2 formula.
Reigning champion Brandon Semenuk leads the 2023 standings after the opening round, Sno*Drift Rally, and will be a favorite for victory again on a rally he won last year.
Tom Williams tops an RC2 entry that includes Patrick Gruszka and Allen Dobasu.
